The important stuff is handled.

8 nights in well-located hotels
Three in Bergen, three in Stavanger, two in Oslo, at the level you choose. Breakfast at every tier except the cheapest.
The coastal bus to Stavanger
Kystbussen down the E39 from city centre to city centre, about four and a half hours, with two fjord crossings by ferry included in the fare. It is a scenic route sold as a bus.
The Sørlandsbanen to Oslo
Eight hours east across the mountains and down to the capital. Reserved seats. The best-value sightseeing in Norway and the reason we do not fly this leg.

Nine days down the west coast: three nights in Bergen under the seven mountains, the coastal bus south for Gladmat in Stavanger, then the long train east to Oslo. Your trip includes hotels, the coastal bus and the train; we arrange each reservation after you book. What you do with the daylight is yours — and in late June there is a great deal of it.
Bergen first, because arriving in Norway should look like the postcard: wooden wharf houses, a funicular up Fløyen, fish at the market. Then the coastal bus south on the Wednesday Gladmat opens, for three days of Scandinavia's best food festival in a town small enough to walk. Then the Sørlandsbanen east to Oslo, eight hours of it, which is not a transfer so much as the best-value sightseeing in the country. Two nights in Oslo to swim off the opera house and see the Munch.
One trip, three completely different Norways, and no one marching you between them. Midsummer here means light until midnight — the day is as long as you want to make it.

The Pulpit Rock: a reserved seat on the express bus from Stavanger, then about four hours on foot there and back, for a flat cliff six hundred metres above the Lysefjord. The walking is real and the trail is not a stroll; the bus is the part worth booking, because the last one back does not wait.

- When
- Thu 24 Jun · Day 5
Thirty minutes out of Sola, up the Lysefjord and over Preikestolen, which from the air is a flat grey tongue a very long way above the water. The people on top of it are the dots. Up to five of you, for one price. Weather is the only thing that cancels this, and it cancels it outright rather than flying it badly.

Your Guide in the app

You book
Flights
You book your own into Bergen and out of Oslo. Both are well served from the UK and the US east coast.
Food and drink
Norway is expensive and we would rather say so than bury it. Budget more than you would for Europe.
Excursions
Preikestolen, the Fløyen funicular, Flor & Fjære, the Oslo sauna and the Lysefjord helicopter are optional extras with their own prices; add them when you book or later. Ulriken is yours to climb, or ride up, on your own.
Travel insurance
Strongly recommended, and yours to arrange. Our cancellation policy refunds what we control; insurance covers your flights, your health and everything you booked yourself.
Before you book.
What everyone on this trip has to be able to do. Check these now, not in May.
Ages 8 and up, with a parent or guardian
The person booking must be 18 or over. Everyone else must be at least 8 on the departure date, and anyone under 18 travels with a parent or legal guardian named on the same booking for the whole trip; each adult can bring up to two children. Some extras show their own minimum age. We check dates of birth when you book. If you give us a false date of birth, you lose your deposit and the booking is cancelled without refund.
The company behind your trip.

From the founder
Guideless comes from many miles in Europe and the same observation every time: nobody wanted a guide, and everybody wanted the annoying parts handled. So we book the hotels and the trains, then get out of the way.
Nobody from Guideless travels with the group. There is no guide and no substitute for one: the company books the trip, the app carries it, and you can request support when you need help. Someone may be on a departure with a camera, checking how it actually went. That is the extent of it, by design.

Questions about this trip.
What is Gladmat?
Norway's biggest food festival, held on Stavanger's harbour every June: 23 to 26 June in 2027, Wednesday to Saturday. Entry is free; you pay for what you eat. You arrive on the coastal bus for the opening afternoon and have Thursday and Friday there in full. The train east leaves on Saturday morning, the festival's last day.
Eight hours on a train?
Yes, and it is the point rather than the price of admission. The Sørlandsbanen crosses the mountains and runs down the south coast; people take it as an excursion in its own right. We do not sell flights on this trip, so if you would rather fly that leg, the flight is yours to book.
How much daylight is there in late June?
Effectively all of it. Bergen gets about nineteen hours and it never gets properly dark. Plan for long evenings and bring something for your eyes at night.
How expensive is Norway really?
More than you expect. A beer runs about NOK 120 (around $12), a sit-down dinner NOK 500 (around $50) upwards. The hotels and the travel are in your price; the food is not, and pretending otherwise would be the wrong kind of surprise.
Do I need to be fit?
Not for the trip itself — it is three cities, a bus and a train. The optional hikes are another matter: Preikestolen is four hours of real walking and Ulriken is a climb unless you take the cable car.
