A Flash Pack alternative for solo travellers who want their own days

Flash Pack builds led group trips for solo travellers in their thirties and forties. Here is what it includes, who it suits, and what to consider if you want your own room and your own days. From a company that sells the alternative.

Flash Pack runs small-group adventures for solo travellers, with an age band for each trip and a local leader with the group. If you are in your thirties or forties and travelling on your own, it is one of the first names you will come across, and for many people it is the right one. This page sets out what it offers, where Guideless differs, and how to compare the prices fairly. Guideless sells trips, so read it knowing that.

Flash Pack's details below are from its own website as it read on 5 October 2026.

What Flash Pack is

Flash Pack groups its trips into two age bands, 30 to 49 and 50 to 65. It says 90% of its travellers arrive solo and 80% stay in touch afterwards. Most of them share a room: it says 75% room share, matched through a questionnaire, and that solo rooms are available (how Flash Pack works). A local Pack Leader travels with the group.

Its nearest trip to ours is Norway's Glaciers & Fjords, eight days from Bergen with up to 16 people. It includes a via ferrata, a hike on the Nigardsbreen glacier with the equipment, fjord kayaking, seven breakfasts, four lunches and three dinners, local transport and an arrival transfer. The room is a shared twin, with single rooms available (Flash Pack, Norway's Glaciers & Fjords). The page showed no price or 2027 dates when we checked, so we do not quote one here. Its France page listed no trips that day.

When Flash Pack is the better answer

  • You want to arrive and be looked after. A Pack Leader, a planned programme and included group meals take every decision off your hands.
  • You want a group of people at your life stage. Flash Pack's age bands do that by design. We do not sort departures by age.
  • You want the activities in the price. Glacier hikes, kayaking and the like are the core of Flash Pack's trips. On ours, extras are separate and optional.
  • You would like a roommate. Flash Pack's matching is built for it. We never pair strangers.

When ours might suit you better

  • You want your own room without paying more for it. On Guideless your own room is the price we quote, so travelling alone costs no supplement.
  • You want company on your terms. The group exists in the app and in the same cities. Your Group opens in the app as soon as you book, there is an optional meet-up on the first evening, and on Southern France there are free things people do together, like a morning jog on the Promenade and a walk round the Avignon ramparts after dinner. Join what you like and skip the rest.
  • You want the days to yourself. The hotels and the trains are booked. What you do with each day is yours, with our recommendations for each city in the app.
  • You do not want an age band. Our trips are for adults of any age, from 18.

Comparing the prices fairly

Flash Pack, like the other group operators in our guides, quotes a price that assumes you share a twin room; a room of your own costs more. We quote the other way round: the headline is your own room, and two people booking together can share for less. So to compare like with like, compare our own-room price with theirs plus their solo-room cost, which they price at booking.

Our trips, per person with your own room, read live:

TripDatesFrom, own room
Norway: Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo20 to 28 June 2027$1,755
Southern France: Nice, Avignon, Paris14 to 22 May, 11 to 19 June 2027$2,615

The two are not the same kind of trip. Flash Pack's price includes a leader, activities and many meals. Ours includes the hotels, the trains (and in Norway the coastal bus), breakfast at most levels and the app; activities are extras with their own price. The Norway cost guide breaks our trip down line by line.

What travelling solo looks like on Guideless

You book your own room at the level you choose. As soon as you book, Your Group opens in the app and you can see who is coming, say hello, or not. On the first evening there is an optional meet-up. After that the trip runs on the app: Your Route shows where you are staying and when the train leaves, the recommendations cover where to eat and what to see, and the group chat is where people find each other for dinner or a hike.

If something goes wrong, you message us. The assistant in the app answers at any hour, and people at Guideless cover 8 AM to 10 PM in your local time. There is nobody standing beside you, and if that is what you want from a group trip, Flash Pack is the better choice.

Frequently asked

Does Flash Pack go to Norway?

Yes. Its Norway trip, Norway's Glaciers & Fjords, is eight days from Bergen with up to 16 people and a Pack Leader, built around a planned programme: a via ferrata, a hike on the Nigardsbreen glacier and fjord kayaking. The room is a shared twin, with single rooms available. Its page still showed no price or 2027 dates when we checked again on 14 October 2026 (Flash Pack, Norway's Glaciers & Fjords). Ours, Norway, is nine days from Bergen down the coast to Stavanger and by train to Oslo, with your own room and every day free, from $1,755. What a Norway trip costs sets it beside Flash Pack, Intrepid and Rick Steves.

Is Guideless only for solo travellers?

No. Anyone can book, alone, with friends or as a couple. Solo travellers get their own room as standard, and two people booking together can share.

Will there be people my age?

We do not group by age, and we cannot promise who will book a departure. Your Group opens as soon as you book, so you can see.

Is there a minimum group size?

Each trip runs from two travellers, so a departure does not wait on a minimum group to go ahead.
