The Monaco Grand Prix 2027, planned: where to stay, how to watch, and what it costs

The 2027 Formula 1 weekend runs 4–6 June, with a Saturday Sprint. This is the order to plan the weekend, with ticket and supplier availability checked separately.

The 2027 Formula 1 weekend in Monaco runs Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June, with a Sprint on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday; the Automobile Club de Monaco's program opens a day earlier, on Thursday 3 June, with support-series sessions. Check the official program again before travel; session times can change. Everything else about the weekend — where you sleep, how you watch, how you get in and out of a principality that closes half its roads — is a decision you make months earlier, in an order most people get wrong.

This page is that order. It is written by the company that sells a trip over this weekend, so read it as such; where we are the wrong answer it says so, and where a price exists somewhere other than here it says whose.

The mistake to avoid is booking two nights. Arriving Saturday and flying out Sunday evening costs almost as much as the full weekend, because race-week hotels charge for the week either way, and it means leaving before the podium.

Nice or Monaco, and why the answer is usually Nice

Monaco is two square kilometres with a hotel stock of roughly 5,500 beds and a race weekend that wants several times that. Almost everybody stays outside the principality and comes in by train.

That is not a compromise. The trains take 20 to 25 minutes, run every 15 to 30 minutes, and on race weekend extra services take that to roughly every quarter of an hour — which on a Sunday when half the roads are closed makes rail quicker than any car.

There are four sensible bases, and they are genuinely different trips:

  • Nice. A real city with a market, an old town and a railway that reaches eight more towns. You watch the race and then you have somewhere to be that is not a building site.
  • Beausoleil. The French commune directly above Monte Carlo — the border runs down the middle of a street. About 600 metres above Casino Square, ten minutes' walk down into the principality, at French prices.
  • Monte Carlo. Inside Monaco, walking distance to the circuit, and the most expensive bed on this coast by a distance most people find hard to believe until they see it.
  • Further along the line. Cap d'Ail is the next station west, Menton a few stops east. Ordinary French towns, ordinary French prices, same railway.

The full comparison — walk times, train times, what the noise is like, and which of our levels lands where — is on where to stay for the Monaco Grand Prix. The money version is in what a Monaco Grand Prix trip actually costs, which prints real per-night bands rather than adjectives.

How race viewing actually works

This is where the money goes and where the options are worst understood. There are four kinds of thing to buy, and they are not different prices for the same product.

Secteur Rocher is general admission on the Rock, above the swimming-pool section. It is standing, on a hill, and people arrive early for a spot. It is also the reason a Monaco weekend can cost a quarter of what people assume, and the view of the pool complex is genuinely good. For historical context, ACM's 2026 prices were EUR 45 Friday, 75 Saturday and 130 Sunday; these are not 2027 prices. Check the current official tariff before choosing a ticket.

Grandstands are reserved seats; official day and package combinations can change. Check the ACM ticket for the exact dates, stand and admission it includes. Named stands in 2026 ran from a few hundred euros to a little over fifteen hundred for the three days — K1–K2, over the swimming pool, was EUR 1,420.

Terraces and rooftops are the catered middle: a balcony or a roof with food and a view, usually Saturday and Sunday. They exist and they are real — F1 Experiences publishes named 2027 Monaco hospitality including the Caravelles Terrace, Heracles Rooftop C and the Champions Club — but with no 2027 prices and no availability at the time of writing. We do not currently sell one, because the one we used to list had a price with no source behind it, and we took it off rather than defend it.

Yachts in the harbour are the top of the market and the most straightforward to buy, because Amber Lounge sell their own days directly at amberlounge.com: EUR 3,200 for qualifying day, EUR 4,500 for race day, EUR 7,700 for both, before the 20% French VAT and 3% card fee they add at checkout. We resell those days and we will never price above what they charge — if you would rather book direct, book direct. We would rather say that than have you find out afterwards.

Check official ticket sales separately from our trip

As checked on 27 September 2026, the Automobile Club de Monaco says its member presale began 17 September and public sales open 1 October. Check the official ticket office for today's tariff and availability; a sale window does not mean a particular stand or date is available.

Guideless has not confirmed a Secteur Rocher or Grandstand K allocation for this departure. Any price shown for those optional extras remains a Guideless planning figure until supplier rights, units and current terms are verified. Do not treat an ACM ticket purchase as included in a Guideless booking.

Getting there

Fly into Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE), the busiest French airport outside Paris, about 30 minutes from central Nice and 50 from Monaco by road. From the airport: the tram into Nice is EUR 10, the airport's regulated flat-fare taxi is EUR 32 into Nice and EUR 95 to Monaco, a pre-booked private sedan is around EUR 40 and EUR 90 on the same two runs, and Monacair's scheduled helicopter line does Nice to Monaco in seven minutes from EUR 195 a person — which we do not sell, and which you can book yourself on monacair.mc.

Then the train, every weekend of the year and every quarter of an hour on this one. Getting to the Monaco Grand Prix has the fares, the station, and what race week does to all of it.

Do not hire a car. Monaco closes half its roads for a week, parking is a competitive sport, and every road in is the same road everybody else is on.

The rhythm of the week

Wednesday can be an arrival day. Thursday has support-series sessions on the current program, so the coast is an option rather than an empty-track assumption. Friday lists Formula 1 practice and Sprint qualifying. Saturday lists the Sprint and Grand Prix qualifying; both affect the shape of the weekend. Sunday is the race. Check the final timetable and your ticket before setting each day's plan.

The thing worth knowing is that the days have completely different characters, and the good ones are not all race days. People who book for the Sunday and treat the rest as filler have the worst version of this weekend.

What to book early, in this order

  1. The room. Race-week beds in Nice and Monaco are the binding constraint, not tickets. The good ones go six to nine months out and the price only climbs.
  2. The flights, once the room is held.
  3. The way you watch, after checking the current ACM ticket types, dates and availability; Guideless extras are separate until confirmed.
  4. Anything catered — yacht days and terraces have small capacities and no resale.
  5. Dinner on the Saturday, if you care about it. The good rooms take reservations months ahead and are gone by spring.

Everything else can wait. Trains do not sell out.

Where we fit

We book the hotel at the level you choose, the rail the weekend needs, and whatever extras you pick; then we leave you alone. There is no guide. The group is there on the first evening and at the harbour after the podium, and the rest of the weekend is yours — on race day some of the group are on a yacht, some are standing on the Rock, some are at a beach in Villefranche. Same trip, same group chat, different Sunday.

If you would rather compare that against an escorted tour, a hospitality package or doing it yourself, that comparison is its own page and it includes where we are the wrong answer.

Frequently asked

Do I need a ticket to be in Monaco?

To enter the principality, no. To see the track, yes — the circuit is fenced and the free viewing that used to exist has mostly gone.

Is it worth it if I am not a Formula 1 obsessive?

The circuit runs through a working city, the cars pass a few metres from the barrier, and you can hear them from most of the principality. It is the one race where the venue is the attraction.

Can I go for just the race?

You can, and it costs almost as much, because the hotels charge for the week either way.

How far ahead should I book?

For the room, start early and verify current terms. For a race ticket, check ACM's current sale window and the specific day's availability — see above.
