What the price buys, line by line

What the headline price of our nine-day Southern France trip covers, and what it leaves to you: flights, meals, insurance, tickets and optional extras. We sell this trip.

We sell the Southern France trip this piece is about. A headline price only helps if you know what sits inside it, so this is the list, line by line, with the things it leaves out stated just as plainly.

The trip is nine days: three nights in Nice, two in Avignon and three in Paris. The price you see is the price of the hotel level you choose and the trains the route needs, plus the app and the group. Nothing else is folded in.

What the price covers

The hotel level you chose

The price covers eight nights: three in Nice, two in Avignon, three in Paris. Breakfast is included.

The hotel level is the only thing the price changes. The days are the same for everyone. There are four levels, and the current names and own-room prices are:

LevelCurrent nameOwn room, per person
ExplorerWell-located hotels$2,615
ClassicA better room, same streets$3,300
PremiumDesign-led, in the best part of town$5,295
EliteThe best room on the route$9,110

The trip's "from" price is $2,615. For what the level names mean, see the FAQ.

On scheduled trips like this one, the default price is per person with your own room. At most two travelers on the same booking may share one room, and each of the two then pays the sharing price: $2,265 at Explorer, $2,950 at Classic, $4,895 at Premium and $8,510 at Elite. A party of three can choose a sharing pair and a separate room for the third, or three own rooms. Sharing does not guarantee that any particular room fits: your party, the room capacity and the check at checkout decide. The guide on room sharing for three goes through it.

The trains between cities

The route needs two train journeys, and both are covered: Nice to Avignon, then Avignon to Paris. Seats are reserved and the tickets sit in your app.

On day 4 the train to Avignon runs 10:52 to 14:10. On day 6 the TGV to Paris runs 11:40 to 14:20. Avignon TGV is outside the walls, so the itinerary suggests the five-minute shuttle train from Avignon Centre, or a taxi, and leaving the hotel by 11:00.

The app and Your Group

Your Guide is the digital itinerary in the app. It holds Your Route day by day, maps, our recommendations, Your Group chat and a human on support. The group chat opens as soon as you book. Departures on sale are 14 to 22 May 2027 and 11 to 19 June 2027.

The free things we do together

The itinerary marks a few Live Moments: a morning jog on the Promenade, sunset at Castle Hill, the ramparts after dinner in Avignon, a run along the Seine. They carry no charge and no sign-up. You turn up or you do not.

There is no tour guide on a Guideless trip: nobody from the company travels with the group, and nothing about your day is decided for you.

A Guideless trip runs even if you are the only person on it, there is no guide and no group cost to reach, so your trip going ahead is never a question of whether enough strangers book it.

What the price does not cover

Flights

Flights are yours to book. You fly into Nice (NCE) and out of Paris (CDG or ORY). We tell you exactly when to arrive. The FAQ answers the usual questions about booking your own flights.

Most meals

Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are yours, and the app's recommendations are there to help you choose. Day 2 points you to Explore for three lunch options within a ten-minute walk.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is strongly recommended, and yours to arrange. Our cancellation policy refunds what we control. Insurance covers your flights, your health and everything you booked yourself. See travel insurance and the cancellation page for the detail.

Museum and attraction tickets

These are yours to buy, when and if you choose. Experiences we can book for you are optional extras, priced separately.

The optional extras

None of these is included. Each one is something a traveler adds or skips, at booking or any time in the app, paying only for what they choose.

  • Boat day along the Riviera (day 2): the whole boat from the old port to Villefranche and Cap Ferrat with swim stops, skipper and snorkels aboard, up to ten of you. Priced for your group as one unit: $1,345. Optional.
  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine afternoon (day 5): 2 to 6 pm, by minivan from Avignon's tourist office with a driver-guide from A la Française, to two wineries for guided tastings and a stop at the ruins of the popes' summer castle. Up to eight people, per person: $110. Lunch is not part of it. It runs once two people are booked on it. Optional.
  • Private airport transfer (day 1): your own car from Nice airport to the hotel, priced for your group as one unit: $45. Optional. The itinerary also describes the tram from the airport to the centre, about 25 minutes.
  • Dinner at L'Ambassade d'Auvergne (day 8): a table at 8 pm in the Marais for whoever adds it, on the restaurant's Bougnat menu of three courses. Drinks are ordered at the table. Per person, with no minimum: $43. Optional.
  • Extra night in Paris (day 9): one more night in the same hotel after the trip ends, breakfast included. Per person: $355. Optional.

The first evening has an optional meet-up at 8 pm at a bar in the old town. It is unhosted and not included. Come and go as you like.

Why we list it this way

A price that hides its edges makes you do the arithmetic later. We would rather you see the whole shape now: a hotel level, two trains, an app and a group inside the price; flights, most meals, insurance, tickets and extras outside it.
